<p style="font-size: 16px;font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;font-weight: normal;color: #222222; line-height: 1.5 !important;">We would like to inform you that no maintenance is planned on Leonardo during July. Starting on August 3rd, <strong>Leonardo will undergo an extended maintenance period to complete the system management software stack upgrade</strong> that began in April.</p>

<p style="font-size: 16px;font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;font-weight: normal;color: #222222; line-height: 1.5 !important;">The overall maintenance activities are expected to span more than two weeks. At present, we expect to concentrate the actual outage period between August 3rd and August 7th. During this period, the compute nodes (both Booster and DCGP) will not be available, meaning that no production jobs will be able to run. Access and data-transfer services, including Datamover, may also be partially unavailable. In particular, some maintenance activities, with an estimated duration of 2/3 days, will require the temporary unmounting of the file systems. During these operations, user data will not be accessible and the cluster itself may be unreachable.</p>

<p style="font-size: 16px;font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;font-weight: normal;color: #222222; line-height: 1.5 !important;">Although we will do our best to minimize the outage period, please be aware that upgrade activities will continue beyond the main outage window, and some operations requiring downtime of critical services may extend into the second week of August. Consequently, normal production service cannot be guaranteed between August 3rd and August 14th.</p>

<p style="font-size: 16px;font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;font-weight: normal;color: #222222; line-height: 1.5 !important;">In addition to the activities planned for August, <strong>further upgrade activities are expected for both the system software stack</strong> (operating system, drivers, and system libraries) <strong>and the user software stack </strong>(compilers, libraries, applications, and development tools). A new software environment will be built and deployed during a subsequent standard maintenance window, which will be scheduled <strong><em>after the summer period</em></strong>. Further details and timelines will be communicated in future announcements.</p>

The issue has been mitigated, and we are actively monitoring the situation. The overall responsiveness of the system has significantly improved compared to the periods when the issue was first observed.</p>
