Research Associate/Senior Research Associate

Applications are invited for the above post to work on the research
programme in Human-Orientated Visualisation of Astrophysics Datasets.
The appointment will be made at either Research Associate or Senior
Research Associate level depending on the skills, experience and
qualifications of the successful applicant.

The aim of the project is to devise and implement a prototype graphical
tool for presenting astrophysics datasets in a meaningful manner,
allowing end-users to recognise familiar patterns and relationships
rapidly. The ultimate vision is an advanced Virtual Reality system
allowing astrophysicists to effectively perform visual discovery.

Applicants must have a good understanding of computer graphics
fundamentals and visualisation techniques as well as research experience
in a relevant area. Applicants must possess at least a good MSc in
Computer Science or a related field incorporating a strong computational
element, a PhD would be an advantage. Relevant research publications and
previous research experience with astrophysical visualisation techniques
would also be advantageous.
