Dear Users,
we forward the following announcement which may be of interest for you:
The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) has the following vacancy:
Postdoc “Numerical methods for multiphase fluid dynamics” V32.033
within the Centre for Analysis, Scientific computing and Applications
(CASA).
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science provides undergraduate
and MSc
programs in Mathematics and in Computer Science. The department has research
collaborations
with other departments at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e) as
well as with a large
number of other universities and companies, both at home and abroad. The
Department has
approximately 350 employees and more than 700 students.
CASA
The Centre for Analysis, Scientific computing and Applications (CASA)
combines all
activities related to analysis at the Department of Mathematics and Computer
Science of
Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Its major research objective is
to develop new and
improve existing mathematical (both analytical and numerical) methods for a
wide range of
applications in science and engineering.
A particular interest is paid to the accurate modeling, analysis and
simulation of reactive flows in
porous media, including the up scaling from the pore scale to the
macroscopic, core scale. This
work is done in both national and international research groups. Detailed
information can be
found at: http://www.win.tue.nl/casa/
Project description
The project encompasses research in the field of multiphase fluid dynamics
with particular focus
on Lattice Boltzmann methods for micro and nano-flows. The research
objective is to develop
new schemes and innovative solutions. Topics may include modeling of new
physical phenomena
as well as development and validation of local grid refinement techniques.
Involvement in the development of fully functional codes and in validation
against experiments is
encouraged and will be possible by means of collaborations with the Physics
department.
Candidates will be expected to carry out independent and creative research,
to assist in the
supervision of BSc, MSc and PhD students, and to publish in renowned
scientific journals.
