Dear users,
I remind you that the $OLD_CINECA_DATA file system will be switched off
in ONE weeks.
Please save the relevant data before February 28.

In the following the news sent to this list last month (jan 13):

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear users,

the new CINECA_DATA filesystem area is available on SP6 system. You can
access it using the $CINECA_DATA (=/shared/data/userxxxx/username)
variable.
The filesystem is brand new and NO data has been copied there. The
performance and the reliability of the filesystem have strongly inproved
with respect to the old one.

Notice that the usage policies have substantially changed:
1. Each user can save files in his/her CINECA_DATA directory up to a
maximum size of 100 GBs (the quota is defined per user). The quota may
be increased for specific needs. Contact the CINECA staff for requiring
more space. Anyway, carts (off-line archives) are still available.
2. The CINECA_DATA user's content is deleted (and lost) after 3 months
from the end of the project which corresponds to closedown of the
associated account.
3. The CINECA_DATA area is not backuped

Data presently on OLD_CINECA_DATA and OLD_CINECA_HOME will be accessible
(read-only) from SP6 ONLY up to the FEBRUARY 28 2010.
PLEASE, copy on the new CINECA_DATA area ONLY files which are really
necessary (refrain from "cp -R *", please !!!).
