Galileo 100 and ADA Cloud back to production (https://www.hpc.cineca.it/newsletter/galileo-100-and-ada-cloud-back-to-production/)
21 November 2024
Dear Users,
We are pleased to announce that Galileo100 and ADA Cloud have reopened for production. Additionally, the Interactive Computing and S3 services on Galileo100 are now fully operational.
Please note what follows:
Galileo 100
the cleaning of the SCRATCH is suspended until the end of year, when it will be restored with the usual policy of cancellation of files older than 40 days.
the deletion of the WORK area of projects that reached the six months deadline in the past month will be postponed by one month.
for the projects that reached the end time in this period, the duration will be extended to compensate the period of unavailability to allow the finalization of the activities.
the DRES defined on PICO gss storage system are at present not accessible on Galileo100 login nodes. We wil update you on their availability in future communications.
ADA Cloud
To restart your services, you have to:
Login to the ADA Cloud dashboard and boot your VM.
If your project uses shares (Manila), after the VM reboot, re-mount the shared volumes.
for both operations, please refer to the ADA Cloud User Guide (https://wiki.u-gov.it/confluence/display/SCAIUS/UG3.5%3A+ADA+Cloud+UserGuide) .
There are a few known issues which are currently being addressed, listed below.
GPU hypervisors are available, but under a lower capacity electric network, so there is the risk of malfunctioning in case of high load on the nodes;
DRES mounted via NFS on the VM (from /gss/gss_work/DRES_<name>) are still non accessible, so please don’t restart the VM until further notice;
access to S3 is still under evaluation.
Concerning Marconi cluster, the recovery operations are still ongoing and it will not be reopened during this week.
Best regards,
HPC User Support @ CINECA
