Leonardo: maintenance on July 15th and 16th (https://www.hpc.cineca.it/newsletter/reminder-leonardo-maintenance-on-july-15th-and-16th/)
8 July 2025
Dear Users,
please be informed that Leonardo will undergo scheduled maintenance on July 15–16 th 2025 , which will result in service interruption as described below:
- Monday, July 15 th – Full system shutdown . The system will be completely unavailable, including the login nodes. Only the datamover service will remain active.
- Tuesday, July 16 th – Partial system availability . The system will be partially available in the afternoon, with a limited number of compute nodes. Users will be able to resume operations progressively, though with some temporary limitations on resources and queues.
During this maintenance, two important changes will be introduced:
- System update – The underlying system software will be updated (e.g., NVIDIA drivers and related components) and the Slurm scheduler will be upgraded to version 23.11. Users are encouraged to verify compatibility with their applications and environments after the update.
- New user stack in production (https://www.hpc.cineca.it/newsletter/leonardo-software-stack-update-2/) – A new version of the software stack in module environment will be deployed and set as default . These changes had already been anticipated and described in the news (https://www.hpc.cineca.it/newsletter/update-leonardo-software-stack/) published on July 1 st .
